Mission II Dies

DROUGHTMASTER INDUSTRY figure, Crusader Mission II has been humanely destroyed at the age of 14 years.

Originally bred by Kim and Julie Barnett and family, the Crusader Stud, Eidsvold he was sold at the 1995 Rockhampton Sale for $11,000 to Brett Nobbs, Cungelella Swan Studs, Springsure.
Sired by Wingfield Rocket (Greenacres Juilien) and bred from a dam exhibiting a cross between Crusader Jackson and Wingfield Monarch, Mission even as an aging bull still displayed the length and smoothness of his sire, Rocket and continued to breed true to type for the Glenlands Stud, Bouldecombe where he spent his final years.

Of recent times one of his many daughters to take out many show ribbons was the 2003-2004 winner, Glenlands Fame. Over the past two years she claimed many regional and feature show accolades including the Beef 2003 championship, Mt Larcom and Toogoolawah Feature Show championships and the 2004 Charters Towers Feature Show championship.

Mission, a poll, sired a total of 274 calves with his male progeny selling to $40,000 setting an average of around $3700. Top selling son was Swan Ironman going to the Calioran Stud, owned by the Purnell family, Alton Downs. In total 22 daughters have sold to average $4625 topping at $18,000 for the former breed record holder, Swan Heart. Last year at the Glenlands Sale another daughter fetched $15,000. Glenlands Honey (P) sold to the Corbett family, Karragarra Stud, Gympie.
