
Unled Droughtmaster bulls hit a $52,500 high while their led counterparts soared to $30,000 at yesterday's annual Glenlands Genetics Sale, Gracemere.
Posting another total clearance for the owners 179 bulls averaged $6534 to gross $1.17M
In all 155 registered bulls averaged $6737 with 23 purebreds making to $8000 to average out at $5152.
Market topper was the 25-month-old, 130EMA, 909kg Glenlands O'Shea (P) (pictured) selling to the Veivers family, Talgai Stud, Rolleston.
The youngster was offered in a three quarter share full possession arrangement with Glenlands retaining a share.
Top selling led entry was the 28-month, 925kg, 131EMA, Glenlands Notus (S) fetching $30,000 to the Chipahill Stud, Biloela. Notus was also offered on a 3/4 share arrangement.
Regular Glenlands genetics users, Charlie and Jackie Hawkins, Herbertvale Station, Camooweal took home the top selling herd bull at $8000.
At 22-months, Clonlara 0949 (S) is the latest sire acquisition to enter the Glenlands battery.
Already ranked in the top 5 percent for Milk, the youngster is a heifers first calf and a son of the homebred product, Clonlara 0672 (T) (D) a son of Glenlands D Firtzgerald (D). Clonlara 0949 was the equal top seller ($13,000) at yesterday's annual Clonlara Droughtmaster Sale.

Two outstanding yearling heifers will be offered at the inaugural 'CQ Stars On The Big Screen Sale'.
The inaugural sale will be staged in the Convention Room, Sun Palms Motel, Rockhampton, September 14 at 8pm.

Although Glenlands didn't send their team to the 2010 Ekka. Glenlands genetics played a major role in many of the broad ribbon winners at the show.
Eight joined and maiden heifers will go under the hammer at the forthcoming, 2UP Sale, Gracemere, July 26.
The first group (Lots 1-4) are joined daughters of Rocky View 607, Clonlara 06231, Bryvonlea Faithful and Glenlands D Kennedy. All of these have confirmed preg tests to Glenlands D Masterstoke (ET) a full brother to the $20,000 Glenlands D Mocha and the RNA champion, Glenlands D Material Girl. On the bottom side of the pedigrees are sires in the calibre of Crusader Mission II, Talgai 510, Swan Factor and Wingfield Rebel.
Four unjoined daughters of D Kennedy, Glenlands D Hadleigh and Ebony Hills Choirboy represent the final draft (Lots 12-15). Maternal grandsires are Glenlands 3155, Glenlands Hired Hand, Wingfield Rebel and Glenlands D Freemantle.
Setting an an overall sale average of $3000 and topping at $4000 for their 19 bulls was the team from the Glenlands Stud.
The annual Northern Territory Droughtmaster Sale conducted at the Tennant Creek Showgrounds witnessed a complete clearance of 70 lots for the four vendors present at the sale. Unseasonally heavy rain fell in the surrounding areas in the lead up to the sale. Across the board the fixture set an overall $2568 average and topped at $4000.
Brisbane based, Daddamarine Pty Ltd recently won the Champion Pen of
Bos Taurus Infused Steers at the Biggenden Weaner Sale.
The winning pen were part of a yarding of nearly 3000 head and were sired by Glenlands
bulls and were bred from high quality station bred Charbray females.
It is understood that the better end (half brothers) to these steers have been
retained by their owners while the champions fetched 216c/kg to return $573/head.
The Daddamarine winners sold for on average $107/head over the average of the steer yarding.
Biggenden's yarding of 1682 steers averaged 186.3c/kg or $466/head.

South Australian Droughtmaster prefix, Marosa Stud, Victor Harbour, owned and operated by Bob and Maree McQueen scored thier fifth grand championship in a row at the recent Alice Springs Show.
The entry Marosa 717 (P) is a son of Glenlands 2353 (Swan Factor) and was sold latter on at the bull sale after the show. Bob reports that 2353 is still performing well in the paddock along with another recruit, Glenlands Jeep (Glenlands Element II)
The 2010 team comprises 13 herd and eight registered bulls aged from 18 to 22. They are currently being prepared on a silage ration at Glenlands. All are polls and have been catalogued in three seperate drafts (Lots 19-25; 48-54 and 76-82).
Sires represented in the team of youngsters are Terella Prince, Bryvonlea Elmo, Swan Heart 789, Talgai Aristotle, Glenlands Herald, Ebony Hills Digger, Skye Percy, Aldinga 42, Glenlands Kosmos, Glenlands invincible, Glenlands Kempsey and Terella Prediction.
Glenlands claimed 2 of the 3 Interbreed titles at todays Rockhampton Show.
Glenlands Monique took home the Supreme Interbreed Female while the winning trio from Glenlands won the Supreme Interbreed Breeder's Group.
Glenlands Monique (Jeopardise) had a successful outing at Rockhampton taking the Supreme of the breed along with the grand & senior champion female. She defeated the grand & senior champion male, Glenlands Naughts (Instinctive) (946kg) for that title after he assumed the male sectional crown relegating Glenlands Next In Line (Kingaroy) (818kg) into the reserve senior spot. Junior champion bull went to Glenlands Oakey (Imparja) (682kg). Calf champion male went to newcomer Glenlands Patrol (Lazarus) (315kg). Claiming the Sire's Progeny Group were three youngsters by Glenlands Lazarus. The team took home 19 individual placings.
The Torrisi family, Vitwood Stud, Pialba collected the Calf champion female with a daughter of Glenlands Lincoln.

The Childs family, Glenlands Stud, Bouldercombe, has sold Glenlands Heidi, an 18 month old daughter of Glenlands Emblem (Cungelella Farmhand) privately for the record price of $15,000.
Purchasers of the female who went on to become the calf champion female at Beef 2003 were the Purnell family, Calioran Stud, Alton Downs. Heidi is the first calf from the Crusader Mission II daughter, Glenlands Fame, who clinched the grand champion female award at the same expo. Fame now has a bull calf at side by Glenlands 1140.
Another two females were also purchased at the same time by the same prefix from Glenlands for $10,000 each. Glenlands Helga (21 months) by Sunderland Bolero and showing a maternal double cross of Swan Easy along with Glenlands Hannah a 20 month old poll daughter of Swan Factor with a maternal cross of Swan 609 and Wallace Vale Don.
All three have entered the elite ET programme that is conducted at Calioran on a regular basis.

The Glenlands sale team of 190 bulls has an average age of 24 months. The offering includes 75 percent polls and and an average live weight of 770kgs. This years average EMA reading is 115cm sq with an average rib fat measurement of 7mm and an average P8 scan of 11mm.
Another impressive result has been delivered from the led team. The 2009 led team has set an average EMA reading of 131cm sq.

The sale witnessed a total clearance with 12 led bulls topping $65,000 to average $21,650. The 140 unled registered bulls topped at $55,000 to set a $6446 medium while 13 purebreds averaged $6577 to sell to a high of $24,000.
This male sale average is $484 per head above the 2008 result and $200 per head above the next best average set at the 2007 sale fixture.
Top seller was the $65,000 Glenlands None Better (P) selling to Cec and Elaine Pelling, Fernleigh Stud, Theodore while the Iris Hill Stud, Gunalda took home the top selling unled entry, the $55,000 Glenlands Nagoa (P). Fred and Juleen Johnson, Chipahill Stud, Biloela secured the high sellnig herd bull at $24,000 in Glenlands 7102 (S).

Bred by Suzanne Hodgson of the Arga Darga Stud, Gympie, Ego at 27-months weighed 870kg and delivered an EMA measurement of 131 and fat depth scans of 7/6mm as a two tooth. Sired by Minlacowie Horatio (S) and from a Wingfield Boris daughter he carries four crosses of the immortal Greenacres Juilien and two crosses of the RNA champion, Boris very close in his linage. His dam has produced six calves at 10 years of age.
His granddam produced 12 including Road-Runner (Huntly Stud), Rainman (I-Bar Stud), Razzle Dazzle (Ross Stud), Rosemary (Norah Price), Rouge (Minlacowie Stud), Rosetta (Jasanda Stud), Rainbow (Yagobie Stud), Rosella (retained) and Aphrodite (retained). The whole sale set a 99 percent clearance rate to achieve an overall average of $4623 for the 73 bulls that sold from six vendors. Glenlands draft of 20 bulls recorded an average of $5350.
Market topper at $9000 was Glenlands 7037 (P) a 32-month-old, 860kg, Swan Jepopardise/Swan Factor entrant with a 122EMA measurement and scans of 11/16mm. He sold to Leigh Propsting, Acton, Hugenden. Other buyers of Glenlands genetics were Braemar Investments, Blackall; Chandler Grazing Co, Barcaldine; the Howard family, Jericho; the Sprague family, Blackall; Lochinvar Cattle Co., Augathella; the Langdon family, Blackall and the Gaza Grazing Co, Longreach.

The 26-month-old is a daughter of Glenlands Justice (Foundation) and had a bull calf at side by Glenlands D Lewis (Glenlands Herald).
Justice is from the aging dam, Glenlands 1108 who has delivered 11 naturals and carries a Milk EBV of 13. Lewis is a 2006 drop son of the high performing, Glenlands Herald and is a maternal half brother to Glenlands D Kiln (Eddington Stud) and is from a 10-year-old Mission II daughter who has so far produced 7 offspring.

Glenlands D Jet Set a resident sire at the Bryvonlea Stud, Glastonbury operated by Brian and Yvonne Heck sired the $6000 Bryvonlea Jupiter (S) to top the Droughtmaster section of the three day sale. Bryvonlea averaged $3250 for their team of seven bulls. Jet Set's extended family continue to breed well with two of his female siblings already producing Lace (Iris Hill Stud) and D Lennox (Yaralla Stud). One has already been utilized in our ET programme producing nine offspring in her eight years (six ET).
Another sire with a massive 'strike rate' is Glenlands I-Spy (Horsham) now owned by Gary and Karen Corbett, Karragarra Stud, Gympie. I-Spy sold at the 2005 Glenlands Genetics Sale for $37,500. Last year six of his sons topped the Droughtmaster market selling to $8000 to average $5750. This year seven more topped at $5250 to set a $3786 on a much tougher market.
Glenlands retains a semen share in I-Spy.
Congratulations to these two enterprises and all other users of Glenlands Genetics at the sale. In total 22 percent of the Droughtmaster bulls on offer in the catalogue carried Glenlands sires or Glenlands based sires in the first two generations of their pedigrees.

Second top selling unjoined heifer was offered by the Heck family, Bryvonlea Stud, Glastonbury. The entry was a 22-month-old daughter of Glenlands D Jet Set. Bryvonlea also scored with a $4000 sale for the second top priced joined heifer - a daughter of Billabong Jackson and in calf to Glenlands D Jet Set.
David Smith and Colleen Fricke, Vale View Stud, Goomeri sold the top female at the sale. The 11-month-old was a daughter of Rocky View 714 (P) and is from a Vale View dam by Glenlands Atom (P) and made $5400.
Early in 2010 at the Summer Droughtmaster Sale also at Coolabunia the top selling female in the general part of the sale ($3700) was the seven-year-old Calioran Lara (P). Offered by Barbara Piesse, Riverside stud, Gympie the classy female had a heifer calf at side by Glenlands Knick Knack.
The team took home the reserve junior champion female: Glenlands D Opal (Choirboy-D My Country); the reserve junior champion bull: Glenlands Orson (Invincible-Elanor), the junior champion bull: Genlands Oakey (Imparja-Glenlands 6289); the grand and senior champion female: Glenlands Monique (Jeopardise-Glenlands 3738); the reserve senior male: Glenlands Naughts (Instinctive-Glenlands 5096) and the grand and senior champion bull: Glenlands D Next Chapter (Fabel II-D 00/133).

Glenlands Fairburn's progeny took five ribbons including the Calf Champion Male for owners, Andrew and Kerri McKenzie, Hamadra Stud, Bluff. These included a 2nd in the Sires Progeny Group and 1st in the Bull 12-15mths.
The Carrington family's, Rondel Stud, Winton claimed the Reserve Calf Champion Bull with their entry, Monopoly bred from the dam, Glenlands Jacinta. In all Rondel took three other place ribbons with three Glenlands sires, Hatch, Horsham and Elliot.
Glenmorgan based, Clonlara Stud operated by the McCormack family claimed a 3rd in the Cow class 24-30mths with a daughter of Glenlands D Fitzgerald while Tim Berry, Lagoona Bay Stud, Cooroy took home a 1st place in the Bull 21-24mths with an entry by Glenlands Imparja.
Pine Tree Downs Stud, Gympie operated by the Lambert family scored a 3rd place with a yongster in the Bull 6-9mths by Glenlands Lammermoor (ET). Vitwood Stud, Pialba owned by the Torrisi family also were in the placings with a 5th in the Bull 12-15mths class with a Glenlands Immense son. and the Richards family, Ridgewood Stud, Alton Downs took a 5th place with a son of Swan 1636 in the Bull 24-30mths class.

The Eddington Stud had the top seller at the fixture, a 26-month-old 800kg son of Billabong Monty with fat depth scans of 8/6mm and an EMA of 117. The entry, Eddington Empire (P) is from a dam sired by Glenlands Garrison. Buyer of the top seller at $17,000 was AW Grazing and the Comanche Stud in partnership.
Eddington also sold the second top in the registered section (equal third top overall) with Eddington Extra (P) a 26-month-old by Glenlands He's For Real (Emblem) for $10,000 to AW Grazing and the Comanche Stud, Morinish in partnership. In an another sale topper for the Eddington Stud their 13-month heifer Eddington Flame topped the registered section of the sale at $2750 with another by Monty, this time bred from a daughter by Glenlands D Farrier (P) to John Atkinson, Cashmere Stud, Hughenden.

Tim Berry, Lagoona Bay Stud, took home the grand and senior champion Droughtmaster bull with his entry, Lagoona Bay Dexter by Glenlands Imparja. Other Imparja progeny to perform were the reserve senior champion female in Lagoona Bay Davis while Imparja's progeny took home the Breeder's Group and The Sires Progeny Group as well.
Backing up previous victories earlier this year was Glenlands Kineesha. Kineesha took out the grand and senior champion female and was placed fifth in the interbreed competition. The record priced female is owned and shown by David and Anita Torrisi, Vitwood Stud, Pialba.
Barabara Piesse, Riverside Stud, Gympie took home the reserve junior champion bull, Riverside C.H. by Glenlands Knick-Knack and the reserve senior champion bull with Riverside Jumping Jack Flash by another of the resident sires at Glenlands, Calioran Adam.
The Heck family, Bryvonlea Stud, Gympie were also in the hunt taking the reserve junior champion female with Bryvonlea Susanne a daughter of Glenlands D Jet Set while the Lambert family, Pine Tree Downs Stud, Gympie collected a 1st place ribbon in the under 12 month bull class with a son of Glenlands Lammermoor (ET).

Rondel Madonna (ET) a rising nine-month-old daughter of Hatch and bred from the high performing and successful show winning matron, Rondel Holly (Glenlands Elliot) sold during Beef 2009 to post the new breed record for owners the Carrington family, Rondel Stud, Winton.
Madonna is a full flush sibling to the placegetter in the young heifer class at Beef 2009, Rondel Mintie (ET) and a half maternal sister to Rondel Malibu (ET) (Horsham) also a placegetter from the same class.

Supreme Interbreed Female was the 28-month-old, Glenlands D My Country with her impressive 6-month-old heifer calf at side while the trio from Glenlands representing their Breeders Group took out the Supreme Interbreed Breeder's Group. The group consisted of the grand and senior champion female, Glenlands D My Country, the senior champion bull, Glenlands Maxamillion and the Junior champion bull, Glenlands D Next Chapter.
Other victories for Glenlands included the Junior Champion Female: Ninteen Karat Gold; Calf Champion Female: New Moon; Reserve Calf Champion Male: Narrabri; Reserve Junior Champion Bull:None Better; the Reserve Senior Champion Bull: Missing Link and the Breeders Group.

Five young unjoined heifers averaged $3050 topping at $7500 for a 18-month-old polled daughter of Glenlands Judicator, Glenlands D Nerola selling to Lisa Bishop, Iris Hill Stud, Gympie. Iris Hill also paid $3000 for a 19-month-old Glenlands D Nettle a paternal half sister to Nerola (P).
Jason Wolff, Emerald outlaid $1500 for the 18-month-old, Glenlands Nikki (Glenlands 3577) while the Halliday family took home the 14-month Glenlands Nalini (Glenlands Hudson) with Robert Thompson, Mackay taking the $1500 Glenlands Niceta (18-months) by Glenlands 2486.

In a fitting end to the 2009 show season - Grand and senior champion bull went to Glenlands Maxamillion who took the junior and grand championship ribbon at just 19 months of age in 2008.
Glenlands Monique clinched her biggest win so far snaring the grand and senior champion female. Monique has recently produced a heifer calf by Maxamillion. By taking the female grand championship, Monique defeated her younger stablemate, Glenlands New Moon (Kingaroy-Iris) who was earlier awarded the junior champion female title.
Glenlands D Next Chapter was again in contention taking the reserve senior champion male award. In 2008 Glenlands D Material Girl claimed the senior and grand champion female title.
The team of five bulls and two females from Glenlands took home 14 ribbons between them including the Breeders Group.
In yesterday's Interbreed Championship judging - Glenlands Monique stood fifth overall in a field of 27 other contestants.
In this coming weeks Glenlands IT Genetics Sale ( AuctionsPlus - Saturday, August 15) all three senior winners, Maxamillion, Monique and D Next Chapter will be feature lots. A flush in Monique will be on offer along with semen packages in D Next Chapter and Maxamillion.

Live heifers hit $14,000 and embryo packages sold to a top of $10,750. Conducted on AuctionsPLUS the offering was supported by a 41 bidding panel from three states.
A 10 straw package in the ‘first season' recruit, Glenlands D Mandela (ET) (AI) (P) (pictured) sold for a new breed record of $850/straw to Brett and Gordan Weick, Baronga Farm, Pallaway, NSW. Baronga Farm also purchased the $2750 parcel in Glenlands Maximus. Two packages in Swan Horsham made $7750 each ($775/straw) selling to the Heitiki Stud, Delungra, NSW and to Rob and Donna Atkinson, Glen Ruth Stud, Hughenden. Glen Ruth Stud paid $5000 for the package in Glenlands Fabel II, $5000 for the package in the current RNA champion, Glenlands Maxamillion and $2750 for a parcel in Ebony Hills Choirboy. Ed and Gus McCormack, Clonlara Stud, Meandarra took a packages in the RNA reserve senior champion bull, Glenlands D Next Chapter for $4750. The Iris Hill Stud, Gunalda took the flush in the Beef 2009 champion, Glenlands D My Country for $10,750 while Tim Lloyd and family, Heitiki Stud paid $10,500 for the flush in the RNA champion, Glenlands Monique. Heitiki took all three pregnancies for on average $3883 topping at $4500 was for the Glenlands Missing Link - Glenlands Lotus combination.
Live heifers averaged $6063 topping at $14,000 for Glenlands D New Year (Hadleigh) (20-months) selling to Dr. Barbara Matheson and Claude Wernicke, Hot Stud, Kingaroy. Hot Stud also took the other parcel in Glenlands D Next Chapter for $4750 ($475/straw). Greg Nugent and Linda Currey, Carnudge Stud, Dayboro picked up two heifers to average $3375 topping at $3500 for Glenlands Next Generation (P) (Calioran Benson). Kelvin Brooks, Allora claimed the $3500 Cungelella Henry daughter, Glenlands Night Cap (P) while the Roe family, Joppa Stud, Gympie secured the semen package in Glenlands Man Made (IVF) (AI) for $2000 ($200/straw).

New Ground a poll by Ebony Hills Choirboy took out the Junior and Grand champion interbreed bull earlier in the day and then defeated the grand champion Brahman entry for the award. His (New Ground) family has already produced the $28,000 Glenlands D Latcham (Percol Plains) and the $5500 female in D Mysterious (Araketa Stud).
Glenlands had another good outing, their last before Beef 2009 taking the reserve calf champion bull with Native Son (Glenlands Kipper); the reserve junior champion male with D Next Chapter (Fabel II); senior champion bull, Maxamillion (Johnstone) and the reserve spot was filled by Missing Link (Hatch).
The females also took home an impressive array as well starting off with the champion and reserve calf champion females with New Moon (Kingaroy-Iris) and Ninetendo (Calioran Benson); reserve junior champion heifer, Ninteen Karat Gold (Benson) and the grand and senior champion female, D My Country.
The stud claimed the Breeders Group with Glenlands D, New Ground, Next Chapter and My Country; the Sires Progeny class with the trio of Benson calves; Ninteen Karat Gold, Nintendo and Narrabri; winners in the Dams Progeny Group with Maxamillion and Original - two full brothers out of Glenlands 4814 by D Johnston and a second in the same class with two sons of another multi award winning dam: Glenlands Fame with her two entrants Nobel (Kingaroy) and Overlander (Lazarus).

Glenlands Millenium (Hatch) claimed the senior and grand champion ribbon and Glenlands D My Country (Fabel II) took home the grand and senior female championship ribbon. Other broad ribbon wins included the Calf champion female, Glenlands New Moon and the Junior champion bull, Glenlands D Next Chapter (Fabel II).
Other placegetters included Overlander (Lazarus-Fame) 1st; Original (Johnstone - Glenlands 4814) 2nd; Notus (Choirboy-Lotus) 3rd; Narrabri (Benson-Glenlands 5102) 3rd; New Dimension (Hadleigh-Glenlands 04/7) 3rd; New Ground (Choirboy-Swan 98/37) 3rd; None Better (Jeopardise-Glenlands 4671) 3rd; Nobel (Kingaroy- Fame) 3rd and Missing Link (Hatch-Glenlands 2555) 4th.
Female victories included Monique (Jeopardise-Glenlands 3738) 1st; Material Girl (Hatch-Glenlands D 04/9) 2nd and Lilac (Element II-Glenlands 2912) 1st.
In a fitting end to the day the stud placed 1st and 2nd in the Exhibitors Group; took 1st in the Dam's Progeny Group with two sons of Fame (Nobel and Overlander) and a 3rd in the same class with two sons of Glenlands 4814 (Maxamillion and Original) and a 3rd placed ribbon in the Sire's Progeny Group with a trio by Calioran Benson.

The first (5) straws in Swan Horsham sold for $3250 ($650/straw) going to the Carrington family, Rondel Stud, Winton.
The package in the $40,000 Ebony Hills Choirboy also of 5 straws made $3500 ($700/straw) selling to Brett Weick, Barwonga Farm Stud, Bellingen, NSW.
Last to be offered was the five straws in Glenlands Element II fetched $1000 ($200/straw). This package sold to Peter and Marilyn Jones, Grangeside Stud, Nambour.

The Artesian Droughtmaster Bull Sale will involve six leading Queensland studs - Glenlands, Fairhaven, Medway, Yaralla, Clonlara and Western Red studs. Together these studs have combined to stage the inaugural fixture at the Blackall Saleyards, October 13 2009. At this early stage the offering will comprise 80 purebred bulls. Glenlands will support the sale with an offering of 20 males.

The sale included the dispersal of the Braelyn Stud operated by Allan and Lynne which was headlined by the four year old Kearns. Sired by Glenlands 2486 (Farmhand), Kearns sold to Glen Honor, Jackoben Stud. Losing bidders were Brett and Gordon Weick, Barwonga Farm, Palloway, New South Wales.
Kearns was originally sold at the 2007 Glenlands Sale for $15,000.
Another feature of the dispersal was the interest in the daughters of another Glenlands redsident sire, Calioran Adam. These topped the unjoined heifer section of the sale at $3800.

Interbreed judges, David Bonfield, Palgrove Charolias Stud, Dalveen and Matt Spry, Spry Shorthorns, Tamworth gave the four-year-old and her heifer calf the nod over 18 other female contestants at one of the states largest regional beef exhibitions.
By the former breed record holder, Swan Jeopardise, Kineesha was sold at the 2007 annual Glenlands Sale to David and Anita Torrisi's, Vitwood Stud, Pialba. Kinneesha was the reserve junior champion female at BEEF 2006 under judge, Gary Noller, Gunnadoo Charolais Stud, Oakey. Congratulations to the Vitwood Stud on her ongoing success.

Gary and Karen Corbett, Karragarra Stud, Gympie took sale honours with a 28-month-old by Glenlands I-Spy (Horsham) in the form of Karragarra Essex selling for $8500 to the Naroonie Pastoral Company.
Six sons of I-Spy averaged $5750 for Karragarra. I-Spy was a $37,500 purchase at the 2005 sale for the Corbett's with Glenlands retaining a share in the bull.

Forty Acres Krista (P) (16 months) offered by Les and Lee-Ann Lee of the Forty Acres Stud, Susan River sold for a top of $7500 to the Lilivale Stud. Immense sold to the Vitwood Stud at the 2006 annual Glenlands Sale. Krista represents the first progeny of Immense (Horsham) to go to auction.The Lee's enjoyed more success with Glenlands Kilby siring their other entry, the $4250 16-month-old Forty Acres Kita (P).
Glenlands sires featured throughout the offering that averaged $2412 with daughters of Glenlands D Garrison selling for $3000 for the Gathowen Stud. Selling to a top of $3250 were daughters of Glenlands I-Spy (Horsham) for owners the Karragarra Stud. The Lagoona Stud sold Glenlands Imparja daughters for up to $3750 while Glenlands D Jet-Set sired mated females made to a top of $5000 for the Bryvonlea Stud. Selling to $4500 were daughter progeny of Glenlands Indulgence for owners the Vitwood Stud while Glenlands Garrison sired females made to $3000 early in the sale for the Amavale Stud.
The Vitwood stud sold a cow and calf unit for $7000. The three year old matron unit nursed an impressive bull calf by Glenlands Lincoln. Also featuring in the Vitwood draft of cows and calves where the first progeny of the exciting $15,000 sale recruit, Glenlands Kincaide - a share in Kincaide was retained by Glenlands.

Only one of the team failed to collect a ribbon in their start to the 2009 show circuit in the interbreed ring. Glenlands Native Son (Kipper) claimed a second and the eventual reserve calf champion male; junior champion went to Glenlands None Better (Jeopardise) with other junior male ribbon winners being New Design (Federation) - 3rd place; Next Chapter (Fabel II) taking a second New Ground (Choirboy) also taking a second and Maximillion (Johnstone) a blue in his class.
Reserve senior champion bull went to Missing Link (Hatch) and Masterpiece (Hadleigh) claiming a second place. Calf champion female was Glenlands New Moon (Kingaroy) and stablemate Nintendo (Benson) the reserve calf champion female. Junior champion female went to Glenlands Monique (Jeopardise) with Ninteen Karat Gold (Benson) slotting into the reserve spot.
Capping off the female was the senior champion female with Glenlands D My Country (Fabel II). Glenlands claimed the interbreed Breeders Group, the Pair of Females and The Sires Progeny Group (Calioran Benson).

Calf champion bull the 15-month-old youngster, Glenlands Narrabri (Benson-Glenlands 5102) claimed the grand male championship ribbon over the two other male contenders.
Against all beeds (except Brahmans) the prefix took out the reserve calf champion female with Glenlands New Moon (Kingaroy/Iris), the junior champion female, Glenlands Ninteen Karat Gold (Benson/Swan 94-229) and the junior champion bull, Glenlands D New Ground (Choirboy- D 03/039) and the reserve junior champion bull, Glenlands D Next Chapter (Fabel II - 00/133). Capping off victories in the male ring was Glenlands Millenium (Hatch - Glenlands 2725) snaring the reserve senior champion bull. Glenlands took home a 2nd in the Breeders Group and the trio by Calioran Benson (Narrabri, Nintendo and Ninteen Karat Gold) also took 2nd in the Sires Progeny Group.
All bar two of the 17 entered by Glenlands claimed a place ribbon on the day.

Judge, Matthew McCamley, Eulogie, Dululu awarded the grand & junior champion bull to Glenlands Maxamillion-a 15 month old poll by Glenlands D Johnstone while the 20 month old Glenlands D Material Girl (ET) (AI) (S) a first season daughter of Glenlands Hatch collected the senior & grand champion female. Reserve junior champion heifer was Glenlands Miss Magic (Federation) while Glenlands Major General (Hadleigh) is the reserve junior champion bull. Glenlands Lotus (Lot 28 - Flush - Glenlands Sale) kept her winning streak in tact taking a class win and claiming the reserve senior champion female ribbon.
Other winners for the stable were Monique, Millenium, Masterpiece, Mustang (Lot 7 Glenlands Sale), Missing Link and Lieutenant (Lot 2 Glenlands Sale). Maxamillion, the grand champion has a paternal half brother in the 2008 sale in the led entry, Matrix (Lot 6). Material Girl has a full IVF sister in the 'Sellabration Female Night Sale' in Lot 8 - Glenlands D Mocha and two full IVF brothers in the annual Bull Sale.

Three semen packages in leading bulls from the impressive sire battery at Glenlands will be auctioned at the 'Sellabration' Female Night Sale, September 8 as a forerunner to the physical auction where 40 lots will be offered.
All proceeds from sale of the trio of lots will be shared by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and the Capricornia Helicopter Rescue Unit based in Rockhampton.

Vitwood Jester (P) was purchased at the inaugural Vitwood Sale at Gracemere for $9000. At 25 months the son of Glenlands High Profile (Emblem) weighed 788kg and scanned 13/8mm with an EMA measurement of 124. His dam, Calioran Polly (P) is a Baron/Cungelella Jill configured individual.................
At the end of the week at the Clonlara Annual Sale, Glenmorgan the operation outlaid $12,500 for another polled prospect, Clonlara 07102. A 24 month old weighing 726kg with scans of 10/6mm and a ribeye of 107 and an excellent balance of indices ( 9 17 22) and 4 milk he is a son of Glenlands D Jutebox (Freemantle). His dam is a Serema Kimball daughter.

In a sale breakdown 5 cow/calf units averaged $12,400 to top at $16,500 while 17 joined heifers made to a $20,000 high to set a $8147 average and 13 unjoined yearling heifers made to $5500 to set a $4077 average. Two flush packages averaged $5750 to top at $6500 ending in $265,000 gross.
In total 35 females averaged $7242 - a rise of $1223 on average over the previous years result.
Record selling heifer, the $20,000 Glenlands D Mocha (D) a 25-month-old by Glenlands Hatch and tested in calf to Ebony Hills Choirboy sold to the Vitwood Stud, Pialba. Another Hatch daughter Mercedes (P) at 22-months fetched $15,000 going to Lisa Bishop, Gunalda. Top selling cow/calf unit was the 37-month-old Glenlands Lucinda in which Giovanni Investments, Innisfail outlaid $16,500 for a three quarter share.

Opening the sale were 10 led registereds setting a $21,500 average followed by 160 unled registered bulls selling to average $6384 and 12 purebreds setting a $4292 medium. In total 182 bulls averaged $7077. In two days 219 lots sold to average $7091 ending in a complete clearance and a $1.553m gross.
Glenlands D MNM a 21-month-old Glenlands Herald son topped the day at $70,000 selling to Bill and Jenny Acton, Krismark Downs, Theodore. Krismark also took home the $40,000 led entry Mambo (Glenlands Instinctive) (23-months) and the top selling unled male, the $50,000 Glenlands D MacKenna (Glenlands Fabel II).

The 23-month-old bred by the Pelling family, Fernleigh Stud, Theodore was purchased in partnership with the Talgai Stud, Rolleston Qld for $17,000 at last Friday's annual Piggott Droughtmaster Sale, Springsure.
A son of Glenlands Ivan (P) and from a daughter of Wingfield Biggles. Ringer carries over five crosses of Greenacres Juilien in his extended pedigree and genes of the RNA champions, Boris (two crosses) and Glenlands Ignatious within the first three generations. Glenlands Ivan's granddam is Kengoon Mocha 92/567 - the dam of the resident sire Glenlands Hired Hand (P).

The scurred son of Medway 02233 (Swan Frontline) is from a Glenlands 1711/Gayview 1024 dam. Glenlands 1711 may be familiar to many - he's the face on the home page of the website!
Gayview 1024 was a former sale topper at the Rockhampton Droughtmaster Sale - now known as the National Sale while Swan Frontline (Swan 609) topped the inaugural Cungelella Swan Sale.

Two of the bulls destined for our annual sale have scored interbreed victories on the show circuit. At the Baralaba show under judges Craig McLennan & Jodi Caton Glenlands Moonshine kept his record in tact taking out the supreme exhibit as well as the junior & grand champion male award. Calf champion male was Glenlands Major General while the senior champion male was another sale star - Glenlands Lieutenant. Glenlands D Mocha took home the junior champion female while stablemate Glenlands Lucinda scored another win claiming the senior champion broad ribbon. Capping off the day was a winning the Breeder's Group and the Sires Progeny.....
Days latter at the Theodore Show under the eye of interbreed judge, Brendon Creeber, Glenlands Lieutenant took home the supreme beef exhibit and the senior & grand champion male accolade. Moonshine claimed yet another title in the junior champion male sash while his senior counterpart Glenlands Lord Of The Rings secured a win taking out the reserve senior male title. Hatch daughter, Material Girl brought home another title in the ring with a reserve junior champion female. Toward the end of the day we claimed victory in the Breeder's Group and a Pair of Heifers ending the day with the Most Successful exhibitor title.

Grand champion of the breed, grand & junior champion bull went to the 644kg, 18 month old Glenlands Masterpeice (Hadleigh). Glenlands Lotus (Invincible) took home the grand and senior champion female ribbon.
Other victories included the junior champion female - Glenlands D Material Girl (Hatch) & the Calf champion female - Glenlands Miss Magic (Federation). On the way to the Most Successful Exhibitor title Glenlands took a first and forth in the Breeders Group, a first in the Sires Progeny Group (Invincible) & a third in the Dams Progeny (Glenlands D 04/9).

These 'impact' bulls produced a 9 broad and 26 placegetting ribbon haul for the parent stud and it's clients. Hitting the spotlight for the first time were the 'first season sires' Glenlands Hatch & Glenlands D Hadleigh. Hatch produced five placegetters while Hadleigh's progeny took home three places including the Supreme exhibit....Glenlands Masterpiece.
Another standout performance for the prefix was the massive rising six-year-old donor, Glenlands Iris claiming the female 32 months and older class ahead of six other contenders - some three years her junior! She currently nurses another standout calf ...this time a heifer by Swan Kingaroy.

The team with an average age of 20 months are all polls. Other sires represented are Glenlands Hired Hand and former breed record holder, Swan Jeopardise. Three registered sons of Invincible and Jeopardise are in the team with others sired by leading resident Glenlands bulls.
The team have been silage prepared at 'Dianne Downs' and carry current vaccinations. They sell with a full set of weight and scanning data and come with the stud's full guarantee. Dams represented are sired by the $20,000 Glenlands Elway and the legend Swan Egan. Sale lots 1-6 and 31-36.

At the Rockhampton Junior Beef Show, Rockhampton this week Glenlands Mona Lisa (Lot 14) took home the reserve junior champion ribbon after winning her class while Glenlands Nardia a heifer calf on Glenlands Lucinda (Lot 1) also collected a first in her class.
Judge of the event was Glen Pfeffer, Mogul Brahman Stud, Maclean, NSW. Lucinda by Swan Kingaroy heads a stellar selection of 40 females for the milestone event.

Topping the sale at $5500 was a young herd bull by Glenlands Hired Hand selling to repeat client, Wally Kline. Wally returned to take three at an average $4500. Billy Porter, Wallace Rockhole Station, Alice Springs was active taking two at $4250 each for a registered son of Swan Jeopardise and herd bull son of Glenlands Hillview. Jersey Plains Pastoral Company, Cloncurry were in the market for Glenlands genetics selecting a total of four to average them $4063, topping at $4250 for a herd bull. Napperby Station, Alice Springs operating through Elders Alice Springs outlaid $3750 for a herd bull while the Saint family, Kurundi Station, Tennant Creek claimed a herd bull by Glenlands Hillview for $4000.
Watch out for the great line of young bulls in the annual Glenlands Sale, Gracemere, September 9 by Glenlands Hired Hand. There are three very impressive sons in our led team and other equally impressive individuals sprinkled throughout the unled offering.

Hatch took on stable mates the reserve senior male, Immense (Swan Horsham), the junior champion Joop (Crusader Mission II) & the calf champion male, the 16-month-old Johnny Walker (Talgai 730) for the ultimate male prize.
Peter and Deleece Carrington, Rondel Stud, Winton claimed the reserve senior champion female with the rising three-year-old matron, Holly (Glenlands Elliott) along with a second spot in the Breeders Group. Rondel also took the blue ribbon in the Sires Progeny Group with the Elliott trio.
Glenlands day was also spectacular in the female stakes taking the grand & senior champion award with their entry, Iris the 35-month-old multi award winner by Crusader Mission II. Glenlands also claimed the junior & reserve junior females with 20-month-old, J Lo and the 18-month-old, Josie (Glenlands 1750) & Glenlands Globetrotter respectively. Topping off their success, Glenlands took the Dams Progeny with offspring bred from Glenlands Eve and a first in the Breeders Group.
Gracemere breeder, John Weir, Mt Olive Stud claimed a second spot in the Sires Progeny Group with three by Glenlands Gall headed by the class winner, Mt Olive Visa (21-months). The Lever family’s, Leverdale Stud, Euramo sole entry, Leverdale Lotto (21-months) by Glenlands Director took home the reserve junior championship.
Hatch takes Interbreed
ONLY one point separated the top two contenders in the interbreed male contest at the Rockhampton Show last week.
The panel of three judges Graham Harvey, Harvest Home, Charters Towers, Ross Milner, Bushlands, Baralaba and Doug Miles, Trafalgar, Morinish placed the 1080kg Droughtmaster exhibit, Glenlands Hatch exhibited by the Childs family, Glenlands Stud, Bouldecombe ahead of the Charolais entry, the 1362kg Gunnadoo X269 shown by Stephen Hayward, Advance Stud, Allora in second spot. Third in the competition was the Angus entry, the 966kg Glenlachie Wide Spread a 32-month-old exhibited by Greg and Alicia Magee, Capella.
Advance Charolais played a part in all three interbreed competitions taking our the Supreme Breeders Group ahead of the Droughtmaster trio from Glenlands with Brahmans, the team from Carinya Stud, Gayndah placing third. In a tie Advance shared the Supreme Female award with the Brahman entry with the Droughtmaster entry, Glenlands Iris third. Advance Gold Star 25 (35-months) by Palgrove Upturn the recent tri coloured ribbon winner from the Sydney Royal tied equally with the 39-month-old grey Brahman entry, Carinya Monica (JDH Navasota Alan) (US) shown by John and Dawn Kirk, Carinya Stud, Gayndah.
Establishing new benchmarks in a new record gross, record unjoined heifer, record semen and embryo packages, the vendors witnessed their cattle find homes from the NT, NSW, South Australia and all parts of the state.
Statistics revealed that 13 led bull averaged $17,962 to top at $52,500 while 113 unled registered bulls sold to $40,000 to average $6128 while 30 herd bulls topped at $14,000 to average 5283. The bottom line male average of $6858 is a $280 per head increase over the previous years record result with an extra 17 bulls sold. (Last year 159 bulls av $6578 to top at $95,000).
Females topped at $16,000 for unmated heifers while the cow and calf units topped at $13,000. Semen shares made to a record $8500 ($850/straw) to set a record average of $4900/package ($490/straw) with the two embryos selling for $4000 and $4500 respectively.
Tim Berry, Lagoona Bay Stud, Amamoor took home the market topper the $52,500 Glenlands Imparja. The 27-month-old reserve senior RNA champion scaled 965kg with an EMA scan of 142cm sq and will commence duties with 120 breeders at his new home. Glenlands retained a semen share in Imparja. Fred and Julienne Johnson, Chipahill Stud, Biloela were the losing bidders on the bull.
At $40,000 Glenlands Fabel II (27-months) was snapped up by the AC Cattle Company, Jenny-Glen, Theodore. Sired by Glenlands Eastwood he scaled in at 930kg and delivered an EMA reading of 132cm sq and a fat depth scan of 12/8mm. Another high seller was the Swan Horsham son, I-Spy (31-months) making $37,500 selling to Gary and Karen Corbett, Karragarra Stud, Gympie. Glenlands retained a quarter share in the bull. Losing bidders on both Fabel II and I-Spy was Bill and Alison Zahnleiter, Durack Stud, Baralaba. Late in the sale Judy Purse, Capella claimed the $30,000 19-month-old Johnstone (Fremantle) after fending off the Swan and Little families, Swan Heart Stud, Yamala. Johnstone will be the foundation sire for Judy’s newly formed prefix.
Returning for the third year were Richard and Robyn Simmonds, Avon Downs, Clermont. The major player at the sale, they took 21 males for a $4762 average. Another to add strength was Ken Bright, Cashmere West, St George securing 13 for a $4885 average. Andromeda Cattle Company, Eddington, Mungallala took six to average $4833 while Richard Luck, Junee, Dingo picked the same number for an average $6000. John and Heather Loch’s, Bucknulla, Westwood averaged $3300 for their five with Charlie and Jacky Hawkins, Herbertvale, Mt Isa returned for seven at an average $4000.
Top selling herd bull at $14,000 was a poll by Swan Go-Cat went to Alastair and Karen Kirk, Olinda, Baralaba. Olinda ended with four to average $9750 including a 31-month-old Horsham son for $14,000. Roseland Stud, Gympie operated by Brian and Rose Calvert and family, took home the $17,000 Incinerate (Swan Factor) with the Fernleigh Stud, Theodore owned by Cec Pellling claiming the $19,000 Eric entry, Ivan (P) aged 28-months. Mt Riddock Pastoral Company, Greenhills, Muttaburra outlaid $16,000 for the led 25-month-old Felix (Eastwood) with David and Anita Torrisi, Vitwood Stud, Pialba taking the $17,000 Incite (P) by Swan Icecapade. Another Horsham at $28,000 was the 22-month-old Jet Set selling to the Heck family, Bryvonlea Stud, Gympie.
Ed and Gus McCormack, Clonlara Stud, Glenmorgan took the $25,000 Jukebox (Fremantle) aged 26-months while the Swan Heart herd has a new sire the $10,000, Juvenile. David and Betty Salter, Glen Fosslyn Stud, Glenmorgan secured a $10,000 son of their sire, 125 while SA breeder, Bob McQueen, Marosa Stud, Victor Harbour, took a Fremantle son (33-months) for $11,000.
Record priced unmated heifer title is now at $16,000 thanks to the Karragarra Stud, Gympie with their acquisition, Kelsey an 11-month-old by Emblem. Losing bidder was the Purnell family, Calioran Stud, Alton Downs. Top selling unit was the $13,000 Harmony and a bull calf, Kinsley (Clonlara 213) going to the Davey family, Emerald. Semen in the RNA champion, Hatch sold for a record $850/straw to the Lever family, Leverdale Stud, Euramo while a package in Horsham sold for $7500 ($750/straw) to the Weick family, Bellingen, NSW. The pair of embryos sold for $4000 and $4500 respectively to the Morrow family, Pialba and the Karragarra Stud, Gympie.

In a unprecedented display of breed and vendor confidence registered bulls topped $80,000 to average $7597, purebred bulls soared to $14,000 to average $4975 while registered females hit $20,000 to average $9154, commercial PTIC heifers sold to $2200 per head to average $1772. In the genetic material section of the sale five semen packages set a $4100 average to top at $6500 while the breeds first IVF embryo made $5000.
In another complete clearance vendors, the Childs families, Glenlands saw their genetics sell in a market where 31 individuals sold for sums of $10,000 or more going to WA, NSW and the NT. Setting the pattern for the day 14 led bulls averaged $24,357 while 140 unled registered counterparts topped at $17,000 to average $5921.
Sale topper at $80,000 Jade (1025kg) sold via phone with Ed Chambers, Elders Breeding Services, Rockhampton to Len, Sue and Margot Bode, Percol Plains, McKinlay fending off David and Anita Torrisi, Vitwood Stud, Pialba. At $37,500 Vitwood claimed the 1080kg sale opener, Immense while the $32,500 John Boy sold to John and Donna Atkinson, Glen Ruth Stud, Hughenden. All three were marketed on a three quarter share basis with the parent stud retaining a semen share in John Boy and Immense. The other bull that the stud retained a share in was the $12,000 Judicator (30-months) going to Bill and Jenny Acton, Krismark Downs, Theodore. Vitwood were again major players taking the top selling female the $20,000 Jillaroo and calf, the $17,000 Kilby (P) (Swan 1636) and the $15,000 Kincaide (Swan Factor) (P). The latter the only other bull offered in a three-quarter/full procession arrangement.
Mac and Gayle Shann, Lamont Stud, Clermont took the $30,000 Wingfield Eric son, Keystone (P) while the $22,000 Kingston (P) 20-months sold to the Roma based Oberina Grazing Company. Edge and Allan Webber, Nardoo, Cloncurry took the $20,000 Jardine (P) (Eric) and the $13,000 Juggler (P) (Federation). Don Gordon, Teys Brothers, Sedgeford, Alpha selected the $20,000 Jackson and the $8500 Kudos (22-months) for their bull breeding programme. Three bulls were marketed under a three-quarter and full procession arrangement with semen already sold for export to Asian interests, the $10,000 Justice selling to Hugh and Cherri Philp, Wyena, Clermont, Jade ($80,000) and the $11,000 Jag picked up by Brian and Rose Calvert, Roselands Stud, Woodford.
Richard and Robyn Simmonds, Avon Downs, Clermont took 20 bulls for to average $5075 while Bash Carmichael, Newcome, Augathella claimed 12 to average $3959. Arcturus Downs, Springsure bought 12 at an average $3209 and Charlie and Jackie Hawkins, Herbertvale Station, Camooweal accounted for 16 to av $4969. RJ Firm, Wedgewood, Burslem, Muttaburra signed off on 22 to average $4160. Richard Luck, Junee, Dingo took six to average $5917 with Greg Bowden, Tackeracka, Mora ending with three to average $6167. Angus and Donna Deane, Malboona, Corfield active in the commercial females and bulls took home 18 lots to average $3789. Pauline Cox, Inkerman Station, Ayr took five to average $3600.
Mark and Leonie Davey, Lonemark Stud, Emerald took the $22,000 Jalpeno (28-months) with Lisa Bishop, Gunalda taking the $16,000 Kieran (20-months).
Inala (Cungelella Henry) a 41-month-old Expo reserve champion carrying a positive test to the $47,500 Invincible sold for $12,000 to the Lambert family, Milla Milla with her daughter, Likeness (Billabong Marshall) making the same and selling to the Craiglea Stud, Kenilworth. Kestrel a two-year-old daughter of Clonlara 02213 made $12,500 selling to Paul and Susan Murray, Yarrum Stud, NSW. Jasmine (Element) heavy in calf to the $95,000 Hilton made $10,000 selling to Arakata Pty Ltd, Toowoomba.

Glenlands Legend, a 14 month old with a classic 'blue ribbon' parentage, stole the show at the recent Droughtmaster Feature Show at Winton. Legend, a poll, is a product of first-season sire, the $47,500 Glenlands Invincible (Swan Horsham). The youngster is a half maternal brother to the former breed record-holder, the $95,000 Glenlands Hilton.
Hitting the scales at 690kg, Legend's victory was his best to date after previous good fortune at Marlborough, The Caves and Theodore Show where he was Interbreed champion male.
Judge Rodger Jefferis, Elrose, Cloncurry, and associate Jack Stewart-Moore, Telemon, Hughenden, promoted the youngster through the male ranks to take the grand championship ahead of his older other stablemates and opposition opponents, Glenlands Lieutenant & Glenlands Kingsley.
Leiutenant, at 21 months and weighing 790kg is by Calioran Benson (Swan Iron Man) and claimed the junior championship broadribbon. Team leader and the eventual senior championship winner for Glenlands was the 1095kg Glenlands Kingsley (Glenlands Element ll). Both Kingsley & Leiutenant are to be retained at stud.
In a stellar outing for the Childs family, Glenlands stud clinched the Breeder's Group, the Sire's Progeny group (Glenlands Invincible) then capped off their day with the sash for the most successful exhibitor after snaring both the reserve senior champion male with the 1010kg Glenlands D Khan 35 months, (Wingfield Eric), the reserve junior female Glenlands Lucinda and the reserve senior champion female Glenlands Kalinda. Glenlands Khan is a maternal half brother to the $35,000 record-priced female Glenlands D Hav-a-heart, and along with Glenlands Legend will headline for the Childs' sale in September.

The sale involves 119 registered females composed of 65 registered cow and calf units along with 22 joined heifers and 32 maidens.
Wedgewood was founded on Lisgar and Kirknie females and was owned by the Sydney based, Campi family. Well known and very successful in carcase, prime cattle and stud sales events in the south east for many years, the Wedgewood prefix regularly topped weekly sales in their area and commanded a premium with both processers and private paddock sale buyers for their genetic product.

Bred by Kim & Julie Barnett & family, Crusader Stud, Eidsvold he was sold at the 1995 Rockhampton Sale for $11,000 to the Cungelella Swan Studs, Springsure.
By Wingfield Rocket (Greenacres Juilien) and bred from a dam exhibiting a cross between Crusader Jackson and Wingfield Monarch, Mission even as an aging bull still displayed the length and smoothness of his sire, Rocket & continued to breed true to type for the Glenlands Stud, Bouldecombe where he spent his final years.
Of recent times one of his many daughters to take out many show ribbons was the 2003-2004 winner, Glenlands Fame. Over the past two years she claimed many regional and feature show accolades including the Beef 2003 championship, Mt Larcom & Toogoolawah Feature Show championships & the 2004 Charters Towers Feature Show championship.
Mission, a poll, sired a total of 274 calves with his male progeny selling to $40,000 setting an average of around $3700. Top selling son was Swan Ironman going to the Calioran Stud, owned by the Purnell family, Alton Downs. In total 22 daughters have sold to average $4625 topping at $18,000 for the former breed record holder, Swan Heart. Last year at the Glenlands Sale another daughter fetched $15,000. Glenlands Honey (P) selling to the Corbett family, Karragarra Stud, Gympie.
Glenlands Hatch put the finishing touch to a triumphant day for Glenlands at the recent Brisbane Royal Show.
Glenlands took home the grand & senior champion bull title along with the reserve senior champion male, the reserve senior champion female & the reserve junior champion male.
Glenlands Hatch backed recent wins such as the interbreed champion of the Rockhampton Show to take the senior & grand champion male ribbon at the show the 30 – 42 month class. Heaviest Droughtmaster on the grounds, Hatch weighed in at 1128kg with an EMA measurement of 133sq cm. By Cungelella Farmhand, Hatch also took out the grand champion male at the 2005 breed feature at Theodore.
Attracting praise from judge Ian Galloway, Duarran, Roma for his freedom of movement, muscle pattern and weight the Glenlands prefix has decided to offer a semen package (10 straws) in their team leader at their forthcoming sale, September 13 at the Gracemere Saleyards.
Reserve senior champion was the stablemate, Glenlands Imparja. Winner of the under 30-months class, Imparja scaled in at 958kg with the breeds biggest EMA of 138sq cm. Sired by Garthowen Federal 2nd, Imparja was earlier this the junior champion at the Baralaba Show and the reserve senior champion at the Theodore Feature Show. Imparja is a maternal half brother to the $20,000 Glenlands Hamal and will be one of the many feature lots at the Glenlands Sale where he is catalogued as lot 3.
Reserve senior champion female was the rising two-year-old Glenlands Joanne a daughter of the former breed record holder, Talgai 730. Eight lots by the $46,000 sire Talgai 730 will go under the hammer at the annual sale.
Starting off his show career with an immediate win was the impressive youngster, Glenlands KB. At 11 months the young star boasted a weight of 536kg a daily gain of 1.7kg/day for whole of life and an EMA recording of 106cm sq with fat depth scans of 5/7mm. Sired by one of the operation leading males, Glenlands Element 2 and bred from the multi award winning dam, Glenlands Iris, KB took the reserve junior champion male ribbon after taking out the blue in the under 12 months class.
Sixteen sons of Element 2 have already averaged $5500 with a further eight of his progeny to be offered in the 2005 sale.
On a winning day the stud claimed the blue ribbon in the Professor John Francis Memorial Breeder’s Group.
Glenlands took 9 broad ribbon wins including the Supreme exhibit & the Supreme Beef Exhibit of the Show with the 34-month-old matron, Glenlands Iris.
By Crusader Mission II, Iris nursing an impressive eight -month-old bull calf, Glenlands KB, (Glenlands Element) took the supreme exhibit & the grand & senior champion female. She defeated senior male counterpart & stablemate, Glenlands Hatch, the grand & senior champion bull for both supreme awards. The prefix has retained Hatch (36-months) by Cungelella Farmhand whom has already worked a full season.
Brett Coombe, Bindaree, Moura and his associate Hamilton Donaldson, Medway, Bogantungan, adjudicated a two state exhibitor list.
Glenlands claimed the Calf champion male with Johnny Walker a yearling by the $46,000 Talgai 730 & the reserve junior champion bull, Felix (22-months) by the homebred Glenlands Eastwood. The stud also took home the reserve senior champion male in the two-year-old Imparja (Garthowen Federal). The purple patch continued for the Glenlands in the female section taking the junior champion female with the show progeny of the $15,000 Yaralla Appollo with the 17-month-old Glenlands Jacky. Rounding off a successful day the stud claimed the pair of two bulls, the Breeder’s Group culminating with the Most Successful Exhibitor award.
Valued at $10,000, 'Glenlands Country Life' is a classic blend of Droughtmaster performance & pedigree. Boasting an excellent EBV panel of growth figures above the breed average and a very solid, predictable pedigree...she could be yours!
The 28-month-old poll has started her 2010 show career in winning fashion appearing at four regional shows in central and south western Queensland. 'Glenlands Country Life' has recorded first & second placings at all outings and is progressing nicely according to her breeders. Her disposition is excellent. 'Country Life' has accompanied Brendon Childs in numerous Young Paraders competitions in the past year & more recently at The Caves and Roma. In both events the pair placed either first or second & at the recent Roma Show, Brendon & 'Country Life' combined taking the reserve champion junior parader.
Her sire, Calioran Benson is an integral part of the sire battery at Glenlands. To date 10 auction sons by Benson have averaged $8251 at auction. These have topped at $26,000 for Glenlands Lieutenant and another fetched $14,000 in 2007, the year his progeny debuted. Benson is ranked in the top 15% of the breed for 200-day growth and the top 5% for 400 & 600-day growth. 'Country Life' is a typical Benson daughter displaying length, femininity, tidy underline and udder formation, balance and confirmation.
Her extended pedigree includes the ‘breed greats’ Crusader Mission II, the Swan sires, Horsham, 1636, Ironman & 609.

Vitwood Little Kineesha claimed the junior champion female at the large showing of Droughtmasters at the recent Gympie Show.
The daughter of the $42,500 cow was a calf at side when the pair took out the Supreme Champion Interbreed Female at the 2009 Glen innes Show. Kineesha was the reserve junior champion at BEEF 2006 and was sold at the 2007 Glenlands Sale to her new owners with a bull calf at side, Glenlands Megabyte (Invincible). Congratulations to the Torrisi family.
Anthony Anderson, Eddington Stud sold seven bulls within his sale team by various Glenlands sires to average $5071. Topping at $8500 was the 31-month-old Eddington Emblem by Glenlands D Kewell (Hudson). The youngster weighed 848kg with an EMA recording of 124 and fat depth scan of 13/9mm. Emblem sold to John Atkinson, Cashmere Stud, Hughenden. Equal top seller for Eddington was the 27-month-old Four-X (Billabong Monty) bred from Glenlands 4617 (Element). Another high seller was the $7000 34-month-old Eddington 535 by Glenlands He's for Real (Glenlands Emblem) weighing 946kg and scanning 11/7mm with an EMA of 127 selling to Hughenden Station, Hughenden. Overall the sale averaged $3564. Congratulations Anthony Anderson and family.
On their way back from a successful debut at the Roma Show a reduced team from Glenlands also scored the grand champion female with senior champion female, Glenlands Monique. Monique and Next Chapter competed for the Supreme championship award after he claimed the senior and grand champion male award of the show.
Glenlands also took out the Champion Breeders Group of the show.

Then in front of 5 judges & the viewing public who also cast votes the 28-month-old claimed the rich $1000 prize ahead of 14 other males.
Four of the five judges on the panel placed Next Chapter in either first or second on their score cards. Next Chapter was clearly the crowd favourite when the votes were tallied. Stablemate, Glenlands Monique took out the grand & senior champion Bos Indicus female and was runner-up Interbreed female.
Glenlands Oliver came away with the reserve senior champion bull. Glenlands took the Bos Indicus Breeders group and was second overall in the Interbreed Breeders Group. Glenlands Country Life claimed a second in her class while newest team member, Glenlands Prince (Glenlands Kingsley) placed 3rd in his first outing in the baby bull class.
Running reserve to Next Chapter was Glenlands Oliver (Invincible) in the judging ring against all other breed (except for Brahmans). Grand and senior champion female went to Glenlands Monique while junior & reserve junior champion bulls were also collected by Glenlands with Octagonal & Oakey respectively.
Glenlands D Opal took home the junior champion female while the Breeders Group of Next Chapter, Octagonal & Monique claimed that sectional win.
New team member, Glenlands Country Life (Calioran Benson) claimed a first in her class.

The Glenlands team also scored a number of other placings with a 1st Octagonal (Talgai Aristotle); 1st Oliver (Ivincible); 3rd Orson (Invincible); 2nd Omen (Lazarus) and 3rd Naughts (Instinctive).

Weaned on agistment in early 2009 the mob have been fed at Grassdale for the past 100 days. After 98 days the mob have gained on average 2.45kg/day with a conversion rate of 4.25kg dry matter to 1kg liveweight. Entering the feedlot just before Christmas 2009 the draft weighed in at an average 337kg liveweight and are 10 days off slaughter.
Commenting on his steers Charlie said "these are a real quality mob of steers, but when they came here they didn't have much on them - they had really done it hard, now they look magnificent, with great condition and a bit of length and that's all come down to the last 100days".

Supreme exhibit and Grand and Senior Champion was the 31 month old 934kg team leader, Glenlands Hilton (Glenlands Emblem) who fended off stable mate, Glenlands Hatch (26 months), a 882kg son of Cungelella Farmhand into the reserve spot.
The junior champion bull was another Element son, Glenlands Issac (23 months) weighing 732kg.
Other highlights:
